Lucknow Girls win First Prize at International Short Film Screenwriting Competition

Mumbai: A proud moment for India and SWA as sisters duo, Ilashree Goswami (SWA Member) and Manassvi Nirupma, from  Lucknow, make India win the first prize at Cinefantasy International Short Film Screenwriting Competition organized by UNESCO at Macau, China. The first prize was awarded by Maria Helena the Minister of Tourism in Macau, to the talented sisters for their short film - ‘Legacy of Dreams’. 2016 is a year for Indian women who brought great pride and victory for India not only winning in sports at Olympics, but also in fields of Cinema and Creativity.

Dreams do come true only if you believe in them and these two sisters showed us how.  Apparently, this is also the theme of their script, ‘Legacy of Dreams’. There were around 168 valid submissions from 44 countries. And just one script from India fighting against fate from the duo of Indian sisters. But hard work pays and they got selected in the first 60. Eventually their script made it to the top six finalists, their being the only one from India. They were then invited to Macao and participate in the International Film Festival & Awards • Macao (IFFAM) to compete against other five finalists from China, Belgium, Canada, USA and Thailand from December 8, 2016 to December 13, 2016, for the big awards on a global scale.

Totally clueless at what lay ahead, they landed in a foreign land of Macao, with dream filled eyes and hopeful hearts for India’s victory. On 10th December, these young writers stood up in a special public session in Macau Tourism Center, presenting their works and narrating their dream. Amidst the closing ceremony of the IFFAM on 13th December, the final results of the competition were announced and their dream came true as they heard India winning the first prize followed with their names as winners in the press conference at MGM Macau for their script ‘Legacy of Dreams’.

‘Legacy of Dreams’ tells the tale of Sonica whose monotonous life gets a sudden jerk when she gets an anonymous call from a Dream Bank. It’s not any ordinary bank but a bank where people credit their dreams. Though being enchanted with the Dream Bank and the history of her own colourful dreams, Sonica finds it difficult to dream again as she has lost her Dream password.
